Highest Polyphenol Oil of 2024 - November Organic

In 2023 an oil by Tenute Cristiano got our highest polyphenol oil vote, but for 2024 we've gone with a different oil - and it has even more polyphenols still.

High polyphenol olive oils are quite rare in the UK, with only certain suppliers exporting their product here. We aim to keep an eye on all of the oils accessible to us in the UK market. So much so we keep a page on our website updated at all times with the highest currently available polyphenol oil of the year, so feel free to bookmark it and come back anytime.

Every year, depending on the olive harvest and other factors, certain oils may not be imported into the UK. We keep an eye on what’s out there and make note of the availability and polyphenol levels. The oil that has been both consistently available to buy and contains the most polyphenols for 2024 so far is November Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

If you refer to our ultimate guide to assessing olive oil quality, you will see that November satisfies mostly all of the requirements to be classified as high quality. To name a few, it’s high phenolic, organic, comes packaged well, has a visible address on MasWorth’s website, and sends their oil for lab analysis. Also as November is filtered the oil has a longer shelf life than other, unfiltered oils.

A bottle of November, the highest polyphenol oil of 2024

Currently standing at 746 mg/Kg and a very reasonable price of £25.56 (£5.11 / 100ml) considering its quality, we have no qualms about recommending this oil. View November's oil page on our website here.

There’s still a lot of time left in the year, but the large changes usually happen around harvest time, for this particular oil - Nov 23, so we think November will maintain its position throughout 2024, but we’ll update here if not.

**UPDATE**

Mid-way through this harvest season I started talking to Astrid from Opus Live Well. She told me about their products and in particular, their award-winning high polyphenol oil Opus Oléa.

I was impressed by the quality of this oil and the values by which it is made. Strictly no chemicals are used in the full production process as the olives are grown right until they are milled to extract the oil. What's more, the low acidity target of 0.2% for this oil is a great indicator of quality and will increase the shelf-life of the oil.

The polyphenol count for this harvest year comes in at 484 mg/Kg, and buying a single 500ml bottle works out to be (£3.40 / 100ml) - much cheaper than November. The saving is amplified if you were to buy larger format bottles in bulk, for example 6x 750ml bottles works out to be (£2.64 / 100ml) - almost a 50% saving compared with November.

Personally I prefer to consume regularly rather than buying a more expensive higher polyphenol bottle every now and again, so I think Opus Oléa offers a great long-term and cost-effective solution, and was worthy of a mention for the 2024 harvest year.
